Has this got Lionel Strander in it? Ever read his HUAC testimony?

It does have Lionel Stander in it. It was for that reason alone that I decided to watch the film. (It was the only Stander film on Netflix Instant.)

I haven't read his HUAC testimony, but my reason for seeking out a Stander film was simply because I stumbled across an old interview with him from the early 70s, and I was once again reminded of what a fascinating character he was in real life.

I love the fact that when he talks about the Red Scare in Hollywood in the 40s and 50s, bold as brass, he'll turn round and say that he was too left wing for the American CP, though he sometimes worked with them.

Was he ever a Party member or fellow traveller?

He was a party member from what I can work out. I thought he joined because "thats where the broads were", but it might be that he actually recruited people on that basis. I remember reading the HUAC transcripts in university library way, way before wikipedia was even thought of. I got kicked out becuase I was laughing so loud. Someone might want to make a film of some of that stuff. All with a Nu Joisey accent.

He was married five or six times.
